Easy Like Sunday Morning
Today,
we are exploring Minnesota’s majestic Brown’s
Creek Trail, which extends for six spectacular miles from my home Gateway Trail to the St. Croix National
Scenic Riverway in Stillwater.
About two miles of the Brown's Creek State Trail is immediately adjacent to Brown's Creek,
a designated trout stream with a dense broadleaf forest canopy. One mile of the
trail corridor parallels the St. Croix River, with spectacular views of the
National Scenic Riverway. This is Minnesota's only river in the federal Wild
and Scenic Rivers system.
The trail also passes by an audio listening station,
historical markers and buildings plus winds along local parks, golf courses,
and a community with historical significance.

Clap Hands, Here's Chuckie
You never know who is going to
show up at Goose Station Central. Today,
it was Chuckie, Bon Bon Acres’ resident groundhog. The little guy has come a long way over the
past three months when it comes to his interactions with humans. At the start of the summer, he would only come
down as far as the apple tree in the backyard but I am slowly winning his
trust.
Chuckie has some big shoes to
fill. A few years back, we had a
woodchuck here I named “Sunny” who was nearly tame. I loved her so much. She had babies once and the entire family of
five lived under the gazebo for one summer.
She was an extraordinary creature as she was so friendly. The last time we saw here was when she went
under the barn for her winter torpor. I never
saw her again. 😢
As groundhogs only live to around
the age of six, I would wager Chuckie is her grandson.

Goose Station Central
At Bon Bon Pond
we adore Canada Geese and are thrilled to presently play host to a gaggle of
52. For many years, I have dreamed of having a beautiful swing that would
overlook their feeding ground so I could sit and watch my beloved friends. A
very special thanks to my buddy Jeff for making this dream come true on Sunday.
