Sad news to
report: on Monday morning one of the Bon
Bon Pond Canada Geese was hit by a car. The
flock has a bad habit of sitting in the middle of the road that runs between
sections two and three of the water. I spend a good share of my day running down
the street and screaming like a banshee in an effort to frighten them off of that
filthy—and dangerous—cow path but my
actions have been in vain. Alas, nothing
I try has been successful in keeping
them off the dirt highway and safe from speeding cars.
The injured
waterfowl is one of the young pair that
do not have offspring. He (I believe it
is the gander) has a wound to his foot but can put weight on it and is
able to hobble up and down the hill. Neighbor
Bonnie believes his wing is also hurt but it’s hard to tell now that they
are molting. I can say there is no
obvious dropping or mangling so I remain hopeful that it will heal over the
summer.
Healing prayers for
one of God’s creatures in need is deeply appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you, my friend. I will be praying for a quick and complete recovery.
