Winter—as it
was--is drawing to a close here in the Midwest.
But the waning of cold weather is bittersweet as it will soon to be time to bid a fond farewell to
a few of my favorite feathered friends.
I think of summer
as the season for showy, brightly-colored birds that captivate us with their glorious
beauty. But in the winter, Mother Nature
sends us avians that touch our hearts and warm our souls.
My days with
the Juncos, Pine Siskins, Redpolls and Red-breasted Nuthatches are numbered,
but in the meantime, I celebrate the joy and love and fellowship these heaven-sent
sojourners bring to my life.
