Cottonwood Trees: Not "Pop(u)lar around Bon Bon Pond

It’s snowing . . . in June?  Oh, wait, that’s right, it’s Cottonwood time.  The annual mess is one of my least favorite times of the summer. The white fluff is EVERYWHERE—in the garage, stuck in other trees, in the birds’ water, clogging up the fountain, etc.  The seedpods—produced only by female trees—are  sticky and thus nearly impossible to remove from clothing and rugs.  So far it’s been a poor season for flowers (especially lilacs) but a bumper year for tree cotton.
